Feature Recipe - Baby Mein Salad

1 Head Lettuce or Bag of Iceberg Lettuce, 1 Bag or Container of Baby Spinach

1 Bag Chow Mein Noodles, 1 Package Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, 1 Finely Chopped Gala Apple

After Chopping Lettuce and Apple toss in large bowl add your desired amount(Lots) of Baby Spinach Leaves, Chow Mein Noodles and

Mozzarella Cheese. Turn a few times in the bowl and place in fridge to keep fresh while preparing the Dressing.

Dressing - 1 Bottle Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Salt, Black Pepper, Sugar, Onion Powder, Garlic Salt, Parsley, Celery Seeds.

Season Dressing to taste (a few heavy handed shakes should do the trick), you can use chopped Green Onions instead of Onion Powder and add some vinegar for acidity. I also like to add fresh Arugula to any salad for a more peppery taste. Stir up your mixture and pour over your Salad. Toss Dressing and Salad together a few times and eat up! It's a Salad.

Feature Recipe - Butter

1 pint Heavy Whipping Cream

1 to 2 teaspoons of salt or to taste

1 Container with lid for storage or shaking

You can shake it the old fashioned way which we did in the beginning and still works well if you don't have a food processor. Fill your container only halfway (the cream will double in size). Add salt to taste, half a teaspoon of salt can do a lot so be careful(I like salt). After salt has been added you can even add herbs like herbs or sweets like honey. When whipping cream is no longer runny and can stand on its own you now have butter Enjoy!

Use with you own bread too! http://www.thesimpledollar.com/2007/11/04/homemade-bread-cheap-delicious-healthy-and-easier-than-you-think/

Feature Recipe - Hanky Pankies

1 loaf Rye Bread, 1 small pack. Velveeta Slices, and 1 roll Jimmy Dean Sausage (regular flavor) 1 large frying pan, 1 baking sheet, foil.

or double up the quantity of ingredients for larger gatherings.

You can use any style rye bread. If I get it from the store I usually go with a package of Beefsteak rye and cut the bread slices into fourths or bite size peices. The Jimmy Dean Sausage can be any brand like it just the (mild) kind or (regular flavor) I sometimes kick it up a notch while cooking it anyways by adding a bit of red pepper or oregano. Browning the sausage should be done in a large frying pan, one that will allow room for turning and chopping up sausage while browning. After browning sausage to your desired level of flavor, the darker the better I think. Start unwrapping cheese slices and toss them into the pan to melt. You call the shots on how cheesy you like it, but chop and stir the desired amount of cheese slices in with the sausage. Once all melted in and gooey, let sit for a bout 5 minutes and get baking sheet out and cover the baking sheet with some foil. Preheat oven to 325 and layout bread slices on baking sheet (some peices may overlap depending on amount you make). Once bread is is on baking sheet, take a tablespoon and spoon out tablespoon amounts onto each bread piece then press over with bottom of spoon. Repeat this until all bread pieces are covered. By now the oven should be preheated so put the baking sheet in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes to toast these babies!

You can also leave them untoasted until you get to your gathering and pop them in the over when you get to your event. After toasted, Enjoy!

I also make my own bread with this recipe from simple dollar just add 1 to 2 tablespoons of caraway seed to make rye bread. Double up the bread ingredients for a decent size loaf. http://www.thesimpledollar.com/2007/11/04/homemade-bread-cheap-delicious-healthy-and-easier-than-you-think/

Feature Recipe - Butternut Squash

Preheat oven to 325 degreesTake a Butternut Squash (one makes two servings). Carefully carve in half. I suggest a dull knife or butter knife. Once halved you will need to carve out most of the insides and set them aside to be put back in for cooking, but seperate the seeds to do with what you like. They can be baked along with the Squash on a different baking sheet or saved to plant next season. When you have finished digging out the Squash, get ready to unleash the seasoning! In each squash, put down about 1 to 2 Tbs. of butter, 1 Tbs. Brown Sugar. Now take Regular Potato Chips crumple them up to make about 2 cups worth. Pour the chips into Squash, then add Blue Cheese, (fancy or the stuff in the bottle) over the chips. Sprinkle on your Basil, about 1Tbs. per Squash Then Place in the oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour. When one hour is up take an oven mit and get the squash out of the oven and place on the stove. Get your Shredded Cheddar Cheese and sprinkle over both Squash generously. Then put back in oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese on top is melted.  Let cool about 5 Minutes, then enjoy!

Hamburger Soup

Hamburger Soup is another favorite this time of year and probably the easiest thing I know how to make. The only real worry while preparing it is "What else can I put in here". Right away you can empty all of your canned vegetables(55oz baked beans,15oz peas, 15oz corn, 28oz diced tomatoes along with their juices into your cooker, crockpot or regular pot. Heat low, season(salt, pepper, garlic salt, onion salt, chili powder, paprika, red pepper, cayenne pepper, brown sugar) stir and let warm slowly. While vegetables are heating up, Place 1lb. ground beef in a pan and brown with a cup of worcestershire sauce and two cups uf brown sugar. Season ground beef(salt, pepper, garlic salt, cayenne pepper, thyme) while browning. After browning drain grease then empty ground beef into pot with the other cooking vegetables. Cook low and slow stirring occasionally for about an hour or two. The longer it cooks the better it tastes. I suggest serving it with bread and butter. Enjoy!
